FORMERLY "HIGH HOPES"

We Have HIGH HOPES!
We Hope to share our hopes and fears with others who understand what we are going through.
We Hope to inspire others by our strength.
We Hope to make new friends.
We Hope to learn about new rehab opportunities.
We Hope to gain perspective for our lives by observing other survivors.
We Hope to improve our lives and ourselves.
LET'S LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST!

WHY WAS HIGH HOPES STARTED?
High Hopes was started so stroke survivors and caregivers would have a place to go to share experiences, and learn about stroke through interaction with others. At the meetings, members share their dealings with stroke and numerous topics are discussed.
The group's plans include inspiring other stroke survivors by visiting them in rehab centers and including patients at LBGH.
ALSO:
Community Outreach
Health Fairs
Senior Centers
Having Fun Together
Striving to reach more people who have had a stroke to provide post-stroke tips on living a good life in spite of disabilities.

Past Event
Dec. 9, 2009 was our annual holiday party at the Lynchburg General Hospital Private Diningroom;
Same place as our monthly meeting...
Guest speaker was ANN CRALIDIS, MA,LPC. She is a UNC DOCTORAL CANDIDATE, reporting to us, the results of her Right Brain Study in which six of us participated!
Our luncheon was followed by drawings for several door prizes.
This year, in lieu of a group grab-bag exchange, we donated food or money to a place that serves free dinners to the needy public, "DAILY BREAD", Clay Street, Lynchburg. This was suggested at the November meeting by group members and was agreed upon.
We collected a lot of food and $80 in checks/cash. Thanks everyone!
Thank you Evie Wright for delivering the $80 collected, to the Daily Bread.
The food was given to Holy Cross Church to be distributed to known needy families in Lynchburg. Thank you Emily Sublett, for delivering the food to the church.
Thanking Centra for your wonderful hospitality.
Wishing you Well,
Carole
